Free Vintage Greeting Cards: Easter Chicks

By WordPlay

I'm a lover of all animals in general and a cat lover in particular, but out of all the species in the world, I think baby Easter chicks have to be among the cutest. The vintage greeting cards on this page are devoted to Easter chicks and fall into two categories: natural depictions and those of a more cartoon or "personified" nature (translation: they're acting like humans). I love both types, because each have their own charm.

The natural interpretations are pretty self-explanatory, but I wish I had more background on at least one of the personified versions. For example, on the horizontal card that features the rooster teaching the baby chicks, what on earth is that thing hanging off his face? Is that a pipe? Or is it some sort of device related to teaching? If anyone knows, please leave a comment below and tell me what it is.

Vintage Easter greeting cards: Rabbit and chicken family with baby chick

I once knew a retired schoolteacher who didn't like to see animals with human characteristics in artwork. I don't know why she felt that way but I'm sure she had a good reason. For my part, I love to see animals dressed up as humans. I think the horizontal cards on this page with the dressed inter-species rabbit-chick family (the little pants and suspenders on the small bunny crack me up) and the one with the mother chicken leading her fully dressed chicks in song are adorable. As far as I'm concerned, if personification of animals is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I hope you enjoy this array of baby chicks on vintage greeting cards and that they enhance your experience of Easter this year!

Instructions for Downloading the Vintage Easter Greeting Cards

Choose a thumbnail of any of the vertical or horizontal vintage greeting cards above the large images to the right. When you click on one of the images, it will appear larger.

IMPORTANT: Once you've chosen an image and see it larger, double-click on the larger image, which will make the best version of the art appear.

Then, if you have a PC, just right-click and save the final version of the artwork to your hard drive. If you have a Mac, control-click on an image until a pop-up menu appears that gives you the option to save it.
