Although I created the designs on this page for scrapbookers, these patriotic papers and scrapbook embellishments have many uses beyond just scrapbooking. The papers would also be great as backgrounds for handmade cards -- especially to send to someone serving in the U.S. military in Iraq. (Maybe by the time you read this there won't be any more Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine military personnel in Iraq. As of today [June 4, 2009], however, there are.) The papers can also be used as wrapping paper for small gifts; to incorporate into Flag Day, Memorial Day Veterans Day or Fourth of July crafts; or even as backgrounds for a web site or blog.

I designed these patriotic and military images in Picnik, the free graphics program. To learn how to design your own images, read my tutorial that will teach you how to create your own clip art.

Have Some Free Time to Give to a U.S. Soldier?

Many of the papers on this page would be perfect for making handmade cards to send to a soldier in Iraq. If you'd like to do that but don't know anyone stationed in Iraq (and I hope you don't), check out AnySoldier.com. They provide addresses for soldiers in the armed forces who have requested to be sent mail, because it lessens the loneliness of being so far from home. And you don't have to make a handmade card to participate. Your taking the time to share is what matters; not the form that sharing takes.
